4-Into-1 Exhaust Mock-up 11/18/2003

This took Curtis and I about 4 nights of working to get this completed. First we went to Home Depot and bought almost all of their 45deg 1-1/2" angles. Then we fit and cut and refit and glued and cut and refit, etc... - Ray Debs

Left side view of fuselage (inverted).

Front view of fuse and exhaust system. All the blue tape is just to hold the intake system in place so we could judge distance from stacks properly.

Right side view. These pipes are much more gnarly because we matched the length of all the pipes and the two cylinders on the right side are farther back than the ones on the left.

From the left side again you can see there is a big difference in pipe layout.

An interesting effect of placing the collector in a diamond orientation (rather than flat square) is the vortex looking confluence of the four inputs.

Clearer view of the right side.

This is looking in where the intake scoop attaches. You can see the pipes coming together behind the carb intake.

Here you can see we left quite a bit of room between the exhausts and the carb.

This is the back end of the collected pipes. If you look closely you will see "Frenzy" making a cameo. David Hoover gave us this pic he took when he was designing the exhaust system.

Looking inside the cowl.

From the front. You can see the oil cooler intake just below (above in the pic) the spinner.

The long view...
