Circuit Breaker Panel

When I was planning the new avionics installation, I realized that I needed to add about 13 new circuit breakers for the new instruments.  When I looked under the panel at the old breakers, I decided that I would really like to redo the whole electrical system for the aircraft.  I started by trying to figure out what each of the old breakers was supposed to be for (many of their wires were cut off somewhere else), and removing them.  Then I installed an Avionics Master Switch in the door covered panel, and made a completely new circuit breaker panel.  This new panel's top row is filled with breakers on the Aircraft Bus, and the bottom row is for breakers on the Avionics Bus.  This layout should make it easier to troubleshoot than the original under the panel layout.
Also installed in the new breaker panel are switches for the strobes and EDM-800, data ports for uploading and downloading data, and two stereo inputs for plugging in a portable CD player or tape player.  The "Stereo 1" input can be heard by all 4 headphone jacks, but whenever there is activity on the radios, the music will be muted.  The "Stereo 2" input can only be heard by the passengers (back seat), but will not be muted for radio activity.

S-TEC 50X Autopilot

NOTE:  The autopilot is back ordered and should arrive around December 2000.  I will be flying down to Ramona Aviation at that time to have the 50X installed.  This should only take 3-4 days as the wiring harness has already been installed along with all the other new avionics.

Trans Cal Encoder

The altitude encoder feeds serial altitude data to the Transponder and to the GNS430. An all solid-state Altitude Encoder with RS232C output.  Available in standard or "High Temperature" (E) configuration.

Key Benefits

  • F.A.A. approved to TSO-C88a
  • Serial Data Resolution selectable in 100 or 10 foot increments
  • Converts pressure altitude data to a serialized data string (RS232) to facilitate the use of altitude data in GPS or other on board navigation devices.
  • NEW - now optionally available with RS485 output! (SSD120-(XX)A-RS)

LC-6 Yoke Mount Clock

The clock has an internal backlight which is controlled by the instrument light dimmer. It has the following functions: Zulu Time, Local Time, Flight Timer, Stopwatch, and Count Down Timer.

KI-209A CDI w/ Glideslope

This CDI (Course Deviation Indicator) and Glideslope Indicator is connected to the NAV2 (SL-30) only.  It is mounted in the upper left of the panel above the radio stack.

Collins 332E-4 Gyro

Feeds relative heading data to Sandel.  This is mounted under the front seat in front of the main spar along with the inverter.

SPC-5 Inverter

Provides 120VAC 400Hz to Gyro and Fluxgate.  This is mounted under the front seat in front of the main spar along with the gyro.
